Hunter Safety: adapting to Covid

As the impact of Covid-19 took hold of businesses all over the UK, Hunter Safety were no means alone in having to react and adapt quickly to change.

It became apparent that many of the Hunter teams’ skills in managing construction sites could be transferred into other areas, so we stepped into a managing a large Covid testing site.

It was this proactive approach and Hunter commitment that meant we were able to get stuck into something new, providing essential health and safety management for the daily operations on site.

Despite this being a step away from our normal operations, the team were able to provide vital resources to keep the testing centre working effectively throughout the height of the pandemic.

Alongside site safety inspections, infrastructure checks, testing kits spot checks and logistics arrangements for completed tests, the team also became the key liaison between the staff on site and the Department of Health and Social Care, communicating procedural changes and updates, managing staff, and inputting daily statistics.

Katie Hunter, Managing Director said: “Providing support to local communities facing a difficult time, was something that made the team feel immensely proud and humbled.

“Being able to diversify during the pandemic and react to the environment around us, was something we were able to do at short notice. This helped us to find a balance and be able to continue providing our services.”
