Safety Focus - Welding Fumes

Recent scientific evidence has shown that exposure to mild steel welding fumes can cause lung cancer and it is potentially a cause for kidney cancer.

The HSE's regulations have changed and they will now carry out inspections to ensure that these risks are managed and controlled. All businesses carrying out welding work must have effective engineering controls in place to reduce the health risks of arising fume.

Hunter Safety Solutions have put together a Focus Sheet below, which will highlight all of the important information regarding welding fumes and the risks to health. This also includes how to control the risks and protect workers from exposure, to hopefully reduce the risk of occupational cancer.
