The Health and Safety at Work Act 50th Anniversary

The Health and Safety at Work Act (HSWA), which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, represents a landmark piece of legislation that has significantly shaped workplace safety in many countries, particularly in the UK. Enacted in 1974, the primary objective of the HSWA is to secure the health, safety, and welfare of individuals at work, as well as to protect the public from risks arising from workplace activities.
