DSEAR Awareness

Introduction

Provision of training and information is a requirement of the Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations 2002 (DSEAR) for all personnel who work in areas or handle substances that may potentially produce a flammable or explosive atmosphere.

This course is aimed at those who need a basic awareness of the dangers associated with the substances and working conditions that may give rise to a flammable or explosive atmosphere.

Course Content

This course will allow delegates to understand how to implement effective risk management within potentially explosive atmospheres and includes:

  • Overview of the regulations
  • Explanation of dust and gas explosions, how they occur and the consequences
  • Potential ignition sources
  • How to undertake hazardous area zoning for dust atmospheres
  • Requirements for suitable ATEX equipment
  • Dust explosion protection techniques
  • Management of DSEAR
  • Practical exercises in risk assessment and hazardous area zoning
