Alpha Solway New Manufacturing Facility

Hunter Consultancy Services was selected to provide expert consultancy advice to Alpha Solway, part of leading international PPE firm Globus Group, on a new 72,000 square foot manufacturing facility in Warrington, North West England, and an existing factory in Dumfries, Scotland, which were launched to supply frontline NHS staff and key industry workers with personal protective equipment.

Since the start of the pandemic, Alpha Solway transferred its manufacturing sites from international factories to the new purpose-built factories in the UK, creating over 400 new jobs and providing essential support to medical facilities.

The multi-million-pound contracts with the Department of Health and Social Care and NHS Scotland, has allowed Alpha Solway to increase the supply of much needed FFP3 respirators and Type IIR masks, meeting the demand for the UK’s health and social care sectors until summer 2021. For this critical equipment to start production as soon as possible, our consultants went above and beyond to ensure the new factory met UK legislative requirements.

The team introduced a robust management system, that will aid Alpha Solway in producing over a billion masks annually, as well as providing health and safety support including PUWER, COSHH, workplace transport and first aid assessments.
